What Happened to Too Cool?By: Steve McFaddenwebmaster@wrestlingcolumns2000.comSurvivor Series 1999. Too CoolÕs reformation began, as they teamed with the team of the Hollys to take on the team of the Hardy Boyz, Edge, and Christian. I barely knew who they were at the time, and I remember hating their characters, because the characters were very annoying. They used to dance around in the ring like jackasses, and their mic skills consisted of various sounds that did not sound very nice.Rikishi Fatu was debuting around this time on television. A former tag champion, he had been repackaged yet again. I still remember his debut on Heat against a fellow by the name of Tracey Smothers, and I did not think much of him at the time. little did I know a major star was developing right before my very eyes. The WWF soon decided to turn Too Cool babyface, the only way they knew how. They had Rikishi join Too Cool. Their dance routine was funny, and the WWF soon turned onto the newly formed team of Too Cool and Rikishi. The WWF suddenly had three huge babyface stars on their hands. The whole year went by, and Too Cool was on top of the world, until about King of the Ring, when they lost the tag straps. ThatÕs when they started to lose some of their heat. They got most of it back for their feud with the Right to Censor, and Too Cool was back.Suddenly, however, the WWF messed up by turning Rikishi heel, without having anything for Too Cool to do. Rikishi ended up battling with Kane, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, but Too Cool was reduced to jobber status. The WWF is currently making a team of Grandmasta Sexay, Steve Blackman, and K Kwik, due to Scotty 2 HottyÕs injury, and I really like this trio. If Scotty comes back, maybe they should have him join a singles division, and have the trio continue to work as a team, therefore not having anyone turn heel, because the last time a member of Too Cool turned heel, it didnÕt work out too well.Just my two cents.
