Featuring lots of innovative game play, the game is a fantastic side scrolling action/adventure game that is great fun for the entire family! Overall, Festerıs Quest for the NES is one of my all time favorite games. I was also quite surprised to see that no one wrote a guide for this great game yet, so I decided to! This FAQ/Walkthrough is not finished yet (I will work on the walkthrough at a later time and date) but I hope you enjoy this guide anyways! ----------------- AUTHOR'S INFO ------------------- Name: Steve McFadden E-Mail: mcfaddensteve@netscape.net HomePages: http://gamereviewers.cjb.net http://stephaniemcmahon.freeservers.com http://www.wrestlingcolumns2000.com http://www.reviewcritique.cjb.net GameFAQs alias: SmcFadden Yahoo Messenger: mcfaddenvg or ilovestephmcmahon (same account, different profiles) AOL/AIM: McFaddenDaMan MSN Messenger: neverforgotaboutdre@hotmail.com TOTALS as of 8/2/00 Reviews: 357 FAQs: this was my 42nd, I now have 42. ---------------------------- 1.1 REVISION HISTORY ---------------------------- v0.1 (August 2nd, 2000): First version of the guide, everything done except for walkthrough. I slowly worked on the walkthrough and got some of it done. I also added a lot of sections, but some of the sections have yet to be completed. And I promise that I will at least update this guide once a week, it is going to be tough once school starts for me to update it, however. -------------------------------------------- 1.2 Background Information about the Game -------------------------------------------- Did you know that SquareSoft actually played a helping hand in making Festerıs Quest? Yes, it is true, Sunsoft is a subsidary of DquareSoft, and Sunsoft made this game. So, it can be said that SquareSoft made Festerıs Quest. Interesting, eh? ----------------------------------------------- 1.3 Type of e-mails I accept and donıt accept ----------------------------------------------- ************************** *Type of E-mails I accept* ************************** -Information about the Game -Constructive Criticsm -Comments about the game or guide -Questions for me about the game ************************* *Type of E-mails I trash* ************************* -Asking me to post this guide on your website. -Blatant flaming or advertising ---------------------- 2.0 Walkthrough ---------------------- I am currently working on this walkthrough, and it should be done by the time I have to return to school. ********START WALKTHROUGH******** Enemies: Green Aliens with Long Tounges, Red Aliens that spit fireballs out at you, Blue Aliens, Orange Aliens, and Big Faces with Flies Around them. You start off in the beginning of a street. You can now walk either left or right, although I advise that you do not walk left, because it is just a dead end. The enemies will then end up making mincemeat out of you! Head to the right and kill the enemies while also collecting the power ups inside of the purple grass-like enemies that hog up the street. You get your first taste of power ups here. You can collect different type of power ups, but make sure to get some light bulbs because you will have to enter the sewer soon. Also, powering up your weapon is effective, as well, because you start off with the rather weak green bullets that move very slowly. My best advice to you is to go back and forth along the street while collecting power ups until you have at least the slow cannon ball weapon then move on. Once you get to the end of the street, you can move either up or down. Up is just another dead end with nothing to see but a place you will enter later (after completing the sewers) and there are the red aliens up there which could kill you by spitting out the fireballs. So, just head down, along the way you will have to kill more aliens and collect more power ups. This is when the non-linearity of the game really shines through. You can actually do one of three things here. ------------------------------- OPTION 1: Go down and to right. ------------------------------- This is not your best option, I will tell you that right now. The reason for this is because this leads to nothing but a dead end, and there are a lot of tough enemies to kill along the way. This is not a good option, but it can be good for collecting power ups, since the enemies leave a lot of weapon upgrades upon death. ------------------------------- OPTION 2: Go left, then up ------------------------------- Well, this is the option that I would take. Here, you have to kill a few of the infamous ³evil faces with flies flying around it that make evil noises² enemies. My advice here is to not get hit by one of the flies, youıll be sorry if you do. Just kill them and move up, go to the left, go down, killing a few blue alien enemies, and go into the two houses, gaining items. After doing that, you can go toŠ. ------------------------------- OPTION 3: The Sewers ------------------------------- This is where the fun really starts to develop. Make sure you have a light bulb or two (or ten) and head to the left of the intersection you made in option 2 (when you went up to get to the house, go left this time). Head all the way to the left, and go down, follow the path into the first sewer of the game. THIS IS WHEN THE FUN STARTS TO REALLY PICK UP! Iıll continue the walkthrough eventually, it will lead you through the various sewers and 3D mazes still to come! ------------------------------- 3.0 Frequently Asked Questions ------------------------------- Have any questions?
