So I decided to make this small guide to help people out with the game, because I am sure some people want some basic information about the game. Anyways, enjoy my guide, and if you have any questions, email me. REVISION HISTORY V 0.1 (May 27, 2000) First version of this guide, with basic information. ------------------------------ 2.0 My Review of the Game ------------------------------ When I went to Target one day, my intentions were set on purchasing a Nintendo 64 w/Donkey Kong 64 package, plus WWF Wrestlemania 2000. However, when I entered the store, my dreams were soon dashed: not only had the system not come out yet, but 2000 was sold out!! So then I saw a brand new copy of Wrestlemania 2000 for Gme Boy Color, so I bought a Game Boy Color (pokemon yellow package) and Wreslemania 2000. Good decision, because I got the N64 the next week, and also had something I probably would have never gotten: a portable version of the best US wrestling game ever. Visuals (7/10): WWF Wrestlemania 2000 does its best to capture the TV feel of a WWF show. When you first start the game up, you are treated to a cool title screen featuring Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Also, the game features nice pics of the wrestlers. When you choose to go to a championship mode, the wrestlers each have their own enterances. The in game graphics are good, much better than Attitude. I was surprised by how good the graphics were, I wasn't expecting much from a WWF Game Boy game. Audio (6/10): They play the same boring song for most of the game, which I absolutely despise. Thankfully the song they play isn't that annoying, and also thankfully it isn't difficult to turn the sound off of your Game Boy Color. Gameplay/Control (7/10): The moves are simple enough to pull off, there are 32 regular moves. You do a move by pushing a combination of the directional pad and a button. For instance, pushing up and B does a vertical suplex, and pushing down and B does a piledriver. The gameplay is very fun. There are lots of modes to choose from, including Gauntelt, Steel Cage, Survivor Series, and Championship. Gauntlet is where you have to beat a lot of wrestlers, one after another. Steel Cage is where you have to beat your opponent senseless enough to enable you to climb out of the cage. Survivor Series is a 3-on-3 match, but it isnt tag team. Finally, Championship mode is where you climb your way up the ladder, from IC Champ to WWF Champ to fighting Mr. McMahon himself in the steel cage. Great gameplay. Fun Factor (7/10): This game is fun, but the lack of buttons on the Game Boy pad hurts what could have been a very special game. The time for Game Boy Advance is now, and this is proof of that. --------------------- 3.0 Game Modes --------------------- There are plenty of gameplay modes in WWF Wrestlemania 2000 for the Game Boy Color. Here is a list along with basic information about the modes. OPTIONS MENU Well this really doesn't count as a mode but I figured I would bring it up. Here you can do some basic stuff. -Difficulty: Choose between Easy, Medium, or Hard. (Default: Medium) -Background Music: Toggle the background music on or off. (Default: On) -Sound effects: Choose between the sound effects being on or off (Default: On) -Play Mode: There are 3 different things you can toggle here, No. Sets, Time Limit, and Data Clear. GAME MODES Now here you go, here are the gameplay modes you can choose from. TRAINING MODE: Here you can practice all your moves on a training dummy. This mode is fun if you want to practice moves but you cannot practice defensive moves and counter attacks because the opponent just stand there and allows you to destroy him with your own moves! CHAMPIONSHIP: Well, here your goal is to win the World Wrestling Federation Championship, but Vince McMahon (or Mr McMahon, if you prefer) does not want you to win it. Therefore, you face a lot of challenges on your way to winning the gold. In the end, you fight Mr. McMahon himself, usually in a steel cage match, but not always. I recommend using The Rock or Kane for this mode, and I usually do use Kane because of his strength. VERSUS MODE: Your basic one on one match, you pick a wrestler and fight against an opponent. However there are two different type of matches for you to choose from. CAGE MATCH: The only way you can win in a Cage Match is by climbing out of the ring. Do everything you can to stop your opponent from climbing out, and go for the victory! NORMAL MATCH: Everything goes in a Normal Match, and pinfalls count. No disqualifications, though, although there are countouts. TWO PLAYER HEAD TO HEAD MODE: In WWF Wrestlemania 2000, two players can compete head to head! Once in link mode, the only way to return to the one player game is by a soft reset. -While on the title screen, insert the Game Link cable into both Game Boy systems and press start. -Now select 2 Player to begin the game. -Select your wrestlers and the match begins! TAG TEAM MODE: Your basic tag team matches, 2 on 2. Each team is allowed one grappler in the ring at the same time. When your wrestler gets tired you can tag in your partner by heading to the ropes and pushing in the partner's direction while pushing B. SURVIVOR SERIES MODE: Survivor Series is composed of a series of Singles matches, with each team having three superstars ready to battle against the others. At the Wrestler Select Screen, choose the team of 3 superstars, then choose 3 opponents. Once all the superstars are picked you start the first match. When a wretsler is defeated the next wrestler on your team fights the other team's first wrestler. The pattern continues until one team loses all its wrestlers, then the other team wins. GAUNTLET MODE: Wow, this is a pretty challenging mode. You choose a wrestler then have to beat all 14 superstars, one after another. And you don't regain any health between matches, because the wrestlers keep on coming after you! ------------------- 4.0 The Wrestlers ------------------- MORE IN DEPTH BIOS COMING WITH NEXT UPDATE! In order to pull off all of the Superstar's moves, you will need to master this unique fighting system. Control Pad -Move Wrestler -Strong Grapple/Move Towards Opponent -Run Double Tap Left/Right Select Button -Special Attack: When Bio Meter is filled up to the top, press Select to perform a Superstar's finishing move Start Button -Pause the Game A Button -Striking Attacks -Grapple Moves (with Control Pad) B Button -Weak Grapple -Grapple Moves (with Control Pad) -Tag Up to bring in a Fresh Superstar (in tag team mode) BIO RHYTHM METER The Bio Rhythm meter is unique in the fact that it helps determine as to when you can perform your wrestler's finishing move. The Bio Rhythm for each Superstar is different, and affects how quickly the Superstar will gain the ability to perform his Finishing move. Each Bio Rhythm contains peaks and valleys, depending on the strengths and weaknesses of each wrestler. As a match progresses, the Bio Rhythm Meter scrolls to the right. When the Gold Bar is completely filled up, your Superstar can perform his finishing move. If you do not perform the Finishing Move within a certain amount of time, the Bio Rhythm Meter will start over and you will have to muster the strength to perform the finishing move again.
