Update History: Last Updated: 10-6-00 10-6-00: I got the ASCII art in, and I (v1.0) started the sections up. The complete section, now is only the Introduction. 10-7-00: I went crazy today. I got the (v1.8) Intro, Moves, Combo's, Fatalities, and everything else done too. I just need to fix some formatt problems and I'll be done. ========================================================================== III Introduction (Review): Total Score: 8/10 Yes, while 989 is trying to accomplish a game in each category, it has finished it's Blood and Gore fest, Cardinal Syn. Almost everything in this game is done well! Except for a few flaws in the Gameplay department, this game can glow with the color red! So, this game didn't get that much hype, sure 989 Studio's was in there early stages, this game still looks and feels like a true fighting game. The Graphics in this game are well-done if anything. Graphics seem to always be a flaw in any fighting game, but this game makes an exception. The FMV's in this game are as good as you will ever see in an PSX game, nicely done, with the blood and everything. The backgrounds in this game are also done nicely, with the button that enables you to ''run'' all over the place, the backgrounds aren't these Round boring things, some backgrounds are set on a gold-course like state. In the backgrounds, numerouse things will pop up (spikes, coal carts, etc.) that will sometimes knock you off course, or just take damage away from you. These things seem confusing at first for one reason, when you first start playing the game, sometimes you will not even see these things pop out due to the positioning of the camera. So if you have one shred of life left, and one of these things pops out and kills you, you will not know the hell just killed you. The character designs are also done really well. Being the Most original character stories and character designs, this games graphics are done at a nice quality. Sound and Music in this game are also tuned right. The music seeming to take place in Medievil Ages, and the sounds of Crashing Swords, and shields all seem to be in the right moment. The character's voices and little taunts are OK, but get a tad too tedious and annoying at times ( I swear, If I ever hear Hecklar laugh again, I'll just spit). The sound of the fatlities are also nice and violent. Almost makes you want MK5 to come out now! The control is one of the flaws in this game. At first, it will seem buggy to you, hard to move around, and hard to land descent combos. But when you get the R2 button nealed down (the button that enables you to run freely among the stage), this game will seem like a peice of cake. Before you look at a stratedgy guide, and see a huge combo like this: S, D, T, S, S, S, T, O, don't be fooled, the combos and fatality codes work easily if you just work at it for a minute or two, there easy to memorize, and not to hard to perform. This games Gameplay is one of it's best features. Having some options and extra add-ons I've never seen in a fighting game before, this game is easy to control, and easy to play with. Like I said before, the backgrounds are set and a ''dog-leg'' type angel, so if you want herbs or magic power, you will HAVE to use the R2 button. The fatalities in this game make this game ears in Mature rating. If you've never seen such a violence-filled, gore infested, and graphic way of chopping off someones limbs, then go ahead and tell me. Although once you've see a fatality, you've seen them all pretty much. They consist of having you character doing a lightingening speed fast combo, and then chopping off some limbs, or split them in half, all the characters just have different way off doing the same fatalities. If you like just going face-to-face with your opponent action, then this game will make you proud. If you like having to run around and do a mind-spliting combo, the this games for you. The story though, could also do some tuning up on if they ever intend of bringing out a Sequel. A woman by the name of ''Syn'', is here to take, steal, and have the sacred Swords of Cardinal. Doign this, about 20 fighters are outraged of this because they wanted there own futires with these magical sword. So, ''Syn'' holds a tournament for the fighters. Who ever comes out on top, takes one of the three swords. To add some weirdo side-stories, some characters also hold grudges against each other, making interesting little spoofs here and there. GOOD POINTS ABOUT THE GAME: 1. Great Graphics 2. Fun Gameplay 3. Blood 4. Blood 5. Blood 6. Blood 7. Blood 8. Gore ________________________ BAD THINGS ABOUT THE GAME: 1. Some-what glitchy controls 2. Buggy Camera 3. Un-original Fatalities (but still cool looking) 4. Tedious Tuants ________________________ People who are violence actaivist, and people who have soft-stomachs are the only ones who should stay away. Still, an awesome game from the once dead, 989 Studios. ---------------- Finkster is aWell all around quick and Agile Character to use. His combos are very effective, and moves/magic are not that hard hard to do. His stage is any annoying one, with electricty coming from the pillars. His point is pretty awful though. His story can do without, and his ending is as just as bad. The reason why I picked him, though, is he is a great beginners character. And he is very quick. ========================================================================== 1. STORY TO FINKSTER... Finkster is your common pety thief. He loves to Rob people on the spot, or just plainly steal right out of people homes. He sells these good to trade dealers and in return, he gets sweet-cold mulahs. Once he hears the Book of Knowledge is still in existence, he sets out on his adventure. Knowing he might as well be killed, Finkster accpets the challenges ahead. Once he gets his pawes on the Book of Knowledge, he will sell it to the highest bidder at E-bay. Nah, he'll just sell it off at the flee market in spain. ========================================================================== 2. STRETEGIES to Finkster... Finkster is one of the most agile characters in the game. Use his speed and everlasting combo's to your advantage. One of his most effective moves in his arsenal, is the Slice'n'Kick, or the Rolling Stab. These moves can stin your opponent to the point where you can finish his fatality on them. If you do not how fatalites work in this game, they seem to work as a huge combo (like the Brutalities in MK). You can only do them in the second or Third rounds (or any rounds if you have the cheat on). It is a quick, and painless death (after you get the combo finished). One of the most better startegies or characteristics to Finkster, is the fact that he is very hard to block or counter-strike. This making the enemy wide open for a great move or a finisher. One of Finksters greatest flaws is the fact that he is very weak, and get considerable ammounts of damage for an easy 3 hit combo. But this can be easilly avoided if your a player that loves to block and cpunter-strike. Oh yeah.. did I tell you finkster has a great counter- strike attack too? It takes away a lot of health. And can be done easily. ========================================================================== 3. MOVES For Finkster It is best when his moves are performed after your opponent blocks you. Or, when you arun around (using the L2 button) and get behind them. COMBO'S AND JUGGLERS for Finkster As beig one of the most effective character in the game with Combo's, Finkster's greatest hits are when the enmy is down on the ground or when they're getting up. They are also impossible you block or counter-srtike, due to the quickness of Finkster. FATALITIY COMBO'S for Finkster Finksters Fatality Combos are really something to see. They are one of the most bloody and most graphic in the game. And to top that, they are even easier to do than most. You can perfrom these during the 2'nd or 3'rd round of the battle. If you perform them on the first, it will still take away lots of damage. FATALITY TYPE 1: S, S, S, S, B + S, B + S, F + S FATALITY TYPE 2: F + T, S, S, S, B + S, B + S, F + S FATALITY TYPE 3: B + X, S, S, S, B + S, B + S, F + S ========================================================================== 6. ENDING for Finkster After defeating Kron, Finkster goes to the altar, takes the book, and leaves. He heads back to his home located in the sewers of the city, an puts the book in some library looking place. He then looks at the screen and gives a happy little smirk. ========================================================================== 7. Ending For FAQ... This FAQ was very fun to write, and do. Finkster is one of my favorite characters. He is very quick, and agreat starter character for anyone learning to play. I'd like to thank a few people first...
